Adult Assessment Services
There are many reasons to pursue evaluation and diagnosis.
Autism and ADHD are common, neurodevelopmental, lifelong conditions - brain differences, not deficits - which affect all areas of our lived experience and functioning, including language, communication, social skills, and cognition.
Regardless of outcome, the assessment process is intended to provide meaningful self-understanding, paving the way for living more authentically as we learn how to work with our needs and capacities. Many autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD adults are seeking confirmation after flying under the diagnostic radar despite spending our lives feeling like something doesn’t quite fit, following the identification of autism or ADHD in their children, or having recently hit a wall where coping and compensation skills are no longer effective.
What can I expect in the process?
The process starts with a 15-minute consultation to determine whether we are a good fit for working together.
Once we decide to move forward, the first step is an informal interview – an initial session to learn more about your experiences related to autism and/or ADHD
Next, we will hold an in-depth diagnostic interview. This session is scheduled over 1-3 90-minute sessions, during which we will complete formal diagnostic interviews (ADIR for autism and DIVA for ADHD). Additionally, you will be asked to complete relevant questionnaires on your own time before we meet for the diagnostic interview.
Over the next approximately 2 weeks, I will review all materials and prepare a detailed report explaining the diagnostic conclusion and how the determination was made. The report includes the results of all standardized assessments, pertinent details gathered during our interview, recommendations and resources for additional support, and, if warranted, differential diagnoses to consider.
We will meet once more to discuss the results, review the report, and discuss any remaining questions you may have. Additional support in the form of connecting to community resources, therapy, and more, is included in the individualized recommendations portion of this session.
Payment and Insurance
Individual therapy is $170 for a 55-minute session. I am in-network with NJ Medicare, Horizon BCBS, and the Princeton University Health System for therapy.
Assessment rates vary and are based on my hourly therapy rate. Assessments require 6-12.5 hours, depending on complexity, and include an individualized and comprehensive evaluation report and follow-up documentation as needed. Insurance coverage for assessment varies.
